Facebook Banner Size

I had trouble discovering precise pixel dimensions for facebook profile picture and banner sizes, so I believed it would be fun to create my own. And yes, that was a lot of fun! What much better thing to do on a Friday night? I miss the days of being a graphic designer.

The basic Facebook profile page and other pages are various, but not by much. The profile photo just visits 17 pixels on company and fan pages, which can be a bit complicated if you do a google search for the real pixel measurements. I discovered that in basic, the dimensions weren't really precise and potentially 'eye-balled' to get close enough. However for sticklers like myself, I just cannot deal with inaccurate pixel dimensions (blaarghh!).

Anybody on the internets can copy and paste details, however it is necessary that that information is precise, otherwise false information can spread out like wildfire. Not that facebook pixel dimensions are all that essential, but if I can save someone a few minutes of head scratching, I'll enjoy.

The numbers in the diagram above are 100% precise to the pixel level. I examined and double inspected them at 800% in Photoshop. The JPG file can be opened in Photoshop to see the completely lined up guides too, so do not hesitate to use that as a design template. If the present Facebook page design modifications, I'll check out upgrading the diagram.

Facebook utilizes aggressive compression utility which can break down the image quality even if you upload a very good image. Facebook does it for the sake of faster page loading. This way, even if you upload a superior quality image, the quality might get hindered in case of logo designs and text and the low quality image will make it look like fuzzy.
